How It Works

When resizing images, maintaining the aspect ratio prevents distortion. Downscaling (reducing size) is lossless since you are discarding pixels. Upscaling (enlarging) creates new pixels through interpolation and always reduces per-pixel quality. Modern AI upscalers can produce good results up to 2-4x, but optical resolution cannot be recovered. For web use, 1920px wide is typically sufficient for full-screen display.
